Outside the Box

We Equip Leaders With Strategy and Vision

We are afraid of hard conversations. Individuals, teams, families, and corporations. We have been told that certain topics are off limits. How many times have you heard dont talk about race, religion, or politics at the dinner table? The problem with this logic is when is the right time? When is it time for us to sit down and have conversations that need to be had? How long are we going to talk about changing without taking the action to truly be a part of it? When will we start understanding that a Diversified Country, World, Business, Team, or anything else will statistically excel faster than one that’s not.

It is time. Not in these “unprecedented times”, not”now more than ever” no it’s time because we have put these conversations off for way too long. We have seen countless corporations do the same old tired diversity workshops year after year just to check a box. Then back to business as usual. There is a system in place that needs to be addressed. How we talk about race in the workplace, how we hire personnel, and how we implement diversity into our culture needs to be even more important than your bottom line.

We need to go outside the box instead of fitting so nicely and neatly inside of it. The question is how long will you wait? Will you wait until another incident about race polarizes your news feed? Or will you build the foundation now so when said incident does happen your company and staff will be equipped to handle it?

Cornell Thomas
Cornell ThomasInternational Speaker, Coach, Author
For Cornell Thomas it all started with a ball. From the first time he picked up a basketball at the age of sixteen he was being groomed and prepped for his life’s mission now. Basketball has taken Cornell on an amazing journey of triumph and tribulations. A week away from playing professional basketball Cornell suffered a career altering injury. Little did he know that injury would be the detour he needed to find his true path in life, which is helping others.

Cornell became the head coach of his old junior college without any previous history or knowledge of coaching. As a young coach with no clue how to lead a team the losses came immediately, and at the end of coaching the worst season in school history he became obsessed with team and culture.

Cornell in just two seasons had the worst and best season in school history. He has sat at the table with some of the best basketball minds and leaders in the world. From High-School, NCAA, and even NBA championship level coaches Cornell has acquired a PHD level understanding of not only what makes a successful team, but how they sustain that success.

In 2013 Cornell wrote his first book, The Power Of Positivity – Controlling Where The Ball Bounces. Flash forward to today and Cornell is an international speaker, Ted X speaker, 4X author, and has traveled all over the world doing keynote speeches, corporate and diversity trainings. Cornell is a mindset expert, and is the founder of the globally recognized event The Positivity Summit.
