Alright kids dream big but be realistic. You can be anything you want to be in life, as long as it isn’t something that has never been done before. Shoot for the stars and hey if you don’t make it you’ll still land on the moon. These are the conflicting messages that we’re force fed from the womb to the tomb. We are basically told that not only do our dreams have a ceiling, but we do as well. So we grow up with doubt. We start to question ourselves when it comes to pursuing our dreams. We settle on more “realistic” lives instead of going after the ones we only see in the movies or on television.

Bad habits are hard to break and even harder if everyone around you has the same one. Think about that for a second. If you’re around billions of people that are afraid to dream, why would you be any different? What would make you break the cookie cutter mold that society tries to force us into? Could you imagine trying to quit smoking while hanging out with nothing but smokers? I think it first starts with knowing our own personal value. We need to understand that we are all capable of great things regardless of race, religion, background, or any other built in excuse we might have. Once you know the potential for greatness is inside you then work your butt off to allow it to come out. What’s potential without action? Nothing.

Think about the biggest dream you’ve ever had in your adult life. Did you take steps toward it? Did you believe it could happen? What stopped you from making your dream into a reality? Now block out every excuse you just made and be honest with yourself. The reason you didn’t get it done has everything to do with you and very little to do with your excuses. The point being is that you control the excuses, you either make them or break them.

What ever you think and say you attract. So when you say things like, “I would love to be a millionaire” BUT I’m not smart enough. “I would love to be an actress” BUT I’m not as good as so and so. The BUT is whats on your excuse list when the HOW is what should be on there. A man named Reverend Ike has a great CD I listened to the other day its entitled, “Get your but out the way”.Which can have two meanings just add an extra T. Most of the time we’re in our own way and once we decide to stop blocking our dreams we can clear the path for them to happen.

Old thinking sometimes limits new ideas. You can start dreaming big NOW. I’m currently on a plane getting ready to speak in Vegas this weekend. Five years ago the only people I’ve ever spoke in front of had basketball uniforms on. At some point I’ll speak to people in filled stadiums and I’ll always look back and thank god I decided not to be realistic. Most dreams end up in the cemetery with the dreamer don’t let yours suffer the same fate.
